Valentina De La Torre / Cyclones – Valentina has been doing an amazing job hustling on and off the field. She always has a huge smile for everyone, an amazing attitude, and listens well! Keep working hard Valentina!
Kylie Vorkink / Fillies – Kylie got on base on 5 of her 6 plate appearances this week. She had 2 doubles, a single, and 2 base on balls. She also scored 3 runs and had 6 RBIs. In the field, she caught 4 innings and at shortstop she caught a line drive and tagged third base for an unassisted double play in the last inning of a close ball game to help preserve the win.
Leah O’Brien / LM GOATS – The GOATS are so proud of our #28 Leah O’Brien this week. She was asked to play 1st base in an extremely important game and didn’t hesitate to take on the challenge of the position and mastered it immediately. She also had one of the most beautiful bunts we have seen this season to move the runners… KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK LEAH !!!
12U B Division
Sophia Montenegro/Lady Panthers – Although Sofia splits time with her teammates on the defensive side of the inning, she works hard to improve herself at each practice, always listening to the coaches and incorporating feedback into play. This week, her bat gets her recognition as she found herself up against one of the divisions most outstanding pitchers and drove a clutch shot to right-center for a tie-breaking, and what ended up being a game-winning, inside the park HOMERUN in the bottom of the 4th inning.
12U C Division
Olivia Calloway / Devil Dogs – Home run that almost hit the fence!
Nicole Pannucci / Oddballs – Nicole continues to be the rock her team and coaches lean on and has proved her dependability, time and time again. Her leadership skills are bar-none as “Team Captain” and continues to lead, guide and direct her team to never give up and press forward, win or lose. When the coaches falter, Nicole notices this and picks up the slack and takes charge, ensuring her team stays on the right track. She is extremely critical of herself because she never wants to let herself or her team down.
This week, Nicole stepped up on a number of occasions when called upon to pitch and to defend difficult batted balls by Lady Panthers and Kulana and earned a save in the game against Kulana. Nicole is carrying a staggering batting average of .385 OPS of 1.038. As Oddballs Ace Pitcher, she has achieved a difficult feat for any pitcher walking on 4 batters this season (total) and striking out 15 batters after just 15 2/3 innings, a mind-blowing average of one strikeout per inning. Congrats Nicole, you deserve the recognition for all your hard work and continue doing what you do!
Ryan Rogers / Thunderbirds – This week Ryan was a force at the plate hitting .800 four hits in five at-bats including a tour around the bases to leadoff each game. Ryan also leads the team with her glove flashing the leather with some unbelievable defense 1.000% fielding percentage. In seven total chance, she had 4 assists 3 put outs including a double play. Great hustle Ryan!!
